Haplognathia ruberrima Diagnosis


Diagnosis of H. ruberrima (Sterrer, 1966)

More or less uniformly brick-red or pink Haplognathia with 16-30 µm long jaws whose rostral apophyses are at least half as long as the jaws (index 0.50 or greater). Jaws with one strong tooth flanked by many needle teeth. Basal plate flat, transverse-oval to rectangular, 5-8 µm long by 5-13 µm wide; always carrying longitudinal rows of dorsocaudally pointing thorns on dorsal surface. (Sterrer 1998:31).
