On Geoplanids from Brazil.

Abstract / Notes

Land planarians, collected in the States of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, are
reported. Among the already known spp., the following were anatomically studied: Geoplana marmorata, G.
mulleri, G. carrierei and G. ladislavii G. marginata var. abundans Graff is considered as a different sp., G.
abundans. The occurrence of G. pseudorhynchodemus, G. quagga and G. tapetilla in the State of Santa Catarina,
and the new findings of G. velina in Santa Catarina and of Choeradoplana iheringi in Rio Grande do Sul, are
reported. The following new spp. are described: Geoplana apeva, G. assu, G. fita, G. gaucha, G. glieschi, G.
hauseri, G. nataliae anePS. suva. From the State of Bahia G. beckeri is described, as the second sp. from
this State. The taxonomic status of Geoplana spp. described by Fritz Muller in 1856, is discussed.
