Young 1976 (citation)- p. 426, notes the Ruebush 1939 (citation), Marcus 1951 (citation), and Marcus 1955 (citation) "say that it is a doubtful, incompletely-described species. Dreyer 1918 (citation) admits it is almost identical with M. mutabile Böhmig 1902 (citation) from southern Africa."
