Isodiametra helgolandica Notes

Dorjes J 1968 (citation)- description p 124-130 illustration complete. Helgoland, North Sea.
Exterior appearance- wedge shaped- glassy transparent, 1.0mm x 0.1mm- broadest toward anterior end.
posterior pointed. No color, fragile, very vacuolated, stripes of vacuoles along sides.
Central parenchyma yellow brown with food from behind frontal gland posterial. Testes are
inside vacuole stripe and esternal posterior to seminal vesicle. Ovary unpaired behind
		the mouth- external to bursa.
Epidermis- fine granulated einsunken typical- 3.5 micro meters- rhabdites not found alive but in
sections. Scattered single glands with formed secretion mucous glands present- adenate, flask
		shaped, etc. Eosinophil secretion.
Muscles - Outer circular and inner longitudinal. Weak dors-ventral, strong retractor at anterior
end. Also, one dorsally from near brain.
Parenchyma peripheral- outer partly a layer, partly frothy foamy- very sparse because of vacuoles
and big organs. thin layer around brain and reproductive organs- vacuoles present exfaureon at
		edges.
Nervous system- brain- anterior and dorsal. Statocyst- purched more dorsally than usual- few nerves.
Frontal gland- eosinophil- mucous secretion. Well developed extends to 2nd third of body- opens in
		one common pore.
Central parenchyma- no nuclei- sharply different from peripheral parenchyma.
Pharynx- long, ciliated - goes dorsally 1/2 way across body. Muscles to dorsal side act as dilators
		- is an inpocketing of outer epidermis.
Gonads- note wide separation between female and male germaria zones.
male- testes- 2 dorso-lateral fields- external from brain to copulatory organ- sperm go ventro-
laterally to seminal vesicle. Penis - short, ciliated with muscle layer going over in
those of seminal vesicle and into those of penis. No accessory gland cells or granular
			secretion in seminal vesicles.
female- germarius, unpaired, lying ventro-medially close behind pharynx. Egg nuclei originate
from peripheral parenchyma- grow rapidly, loose stainability and become surrounded with
yolk ?. Ripe eggs lie next to female accessroy organ. Antrum- relatively long, ciliated
extends from female pore to vagina- [is internal]. Vagina- sphincter at opening to
antrum- formed of elongated cellls. Bursa- thin muscular wall. Ductus spermaticus- walls
of matrix cells with inner end slightly anticularized.
Sand dweller- snake like progression, highly contractile body, vacuoles to give stiffness.
	No adenodactyls.
