 Schmidt O 1852 (citation)-
  Levinsen GMR 1879 (citation)- described n. sp. Aphanostoma latissimum and gave Proporus cyclops as a 
  	synonym.
  Graff L v 1891 (citation)- brief note on.
  Bohmig L 1895 (citation)- in list p. 44.
  Steinbock O 1931 (citation)- mentions and lists as uncertain species.
  Westblad E 1942 (citation)- notes Steinbock 1931 (citation)- showed this to be synonym of Aphanostoma
     rhomboides.
  Dorjes J 1968 (citation)- says species dubia.
  Dorjes J 1971 (citation)- describes and illustrates.  Was type species but is species dubia- so he assigns 
  	as type P. venenosus, p 131.
  Dorjes J, Karling TG 1975 (citation)- Swedish Museum of Natural History, Norway.

Steinbock O 1931 (citation)- p 20 notes that "Proporus cyclops certainly does not belong in the genus Proporus. 
What O. Schmidt (1848, t. 1, fig 3, o) indicates as "Mundoffnung" is surely the frontal organ.  The
impression of a pharynx "eine einfache Rohre ohne besondere Muskeln" was most probably caused by the
secretion duct of the frontal organ.  The opinion of the present author is that it is the question of
Aphanostoma rhomboides Jensen (cfr. p 3; Jensen 1878, T.1, Fig 1."
