Notes for Mecynostomidae Pseudomecynostomum
Although 'Pseudomecynostomum' (with 'o' in 'Pseudo-') is the etymologically correct form of this name, and although Dörjes (1968) originally used this spelling in his first listing of genera in the family Mecynostomidae (p. 115, 116), he has the the spelling as 'Pseudmecynostomum' elsewhere in this publication (pp. 63-64, 117, and 409 ff), apparently by typographical error. Because the first appearance of the genus name on p. 63 (in a table listing species covered by his study) is 'Pseudmecynostomum', this spelling is the one that is official according to rules of nomenclature. All species Dörjes (1968) described in this genus are named with 'Pseudmecynostomum' as the generic name.
