Rhynchokarlingiidae Riedelella Diagnosis


Medium-sized Rhynchokarlingiidae (1.5–2.5 mm in the length), with two cuticular hooks in male copulatory
apparatus. Hooks consist of three parts: strong oval, rounded or irregularly shaped base (“basal rings”),
well-developed isthmus (often stick-shaped, the thinnest part of a hook; in exceptional cases, very short or
poorly developed) and the most distal part of different width and form. Hooks may be shovel-, scoop-,
lancet-, scalpel- and even corkscrew-shaped. Bulbus with homogeneously developed muscle wall and normally
developed papilla.
