Hofstenia arabiensis Diagnosis


Elongated, having a rounded anterior tip and a blunt and smooth posterior end. Color of the body yellowish red. Living worm is about 5 mm long and its breadth reaches about 1.25 mm. Mouth aperture subterminal. Pharynx long and muscular. Vesicula seminalis present; ovary follicular. A subepidermal nerve plexus extends from the anterior tip of the body to the end of the first half; no brain mass around the statocyst. Penis bulb with 4 [sclerotic] spines. The insunk epithelial layer of the pharynx is unciliated; no esophagus.
