Stenostomidae without either statocyst or preoral ciliated furrow. Paired ciliated pits associated with the anterior cerebral lobes. Light-refracting bodies present in variable number and arrangement, or absent. Epithelial rhabdoids and excretophores present in some species. Zooid chains formed through paratomy.
