Abstract / Notes
Dugesia Girard, 1850, is restored as a valid genus, of which Euplanaria Hesse, 1897, is a synonym. Geoplana is attributed to Stimpson, 1857. Descriptions and figures are given of the fresh-water planarians Dugesia titicacana from Lake Titicaca, Bolivia, and Sorocelis americana from an Oklahoma cave; of the land planarians Geoplana mexicana from Mexico, G. montana from the mountains of Costa Rica, and Bipalium costaricensis from Costa Rica; and of the polyclad Leptoplana vesiculata from Puget Sound, Wash. S. americana is the first finding of the Asiatic genus Sorocelis in the Americas. A European land planarian, Rhynchodemus terrestris, was found in Wisconsin.
