Abstract / Notes
During the years 1989/90 the turbellarian fauna of the floodplain of the Parana river (Argentina) was investigated, in particular its water bodies. The lake 'El Tigre' was selected for the ecological studies of the Turbellaria as representative lentic waterbody of this complex, variable ecosystem. In total, 21 turbellarian species are described in this study of which 9 represent new records to science (Retronectid species, Rhynchomesostoma inaliensis, Dalyellia obscura, Gieysztoria santafeensis, G. quadrata, G. coronae, G. tigrensis, G. pseudodiadema, G. quadrata). The distribution of each species is considered in various habitats within the lake 'El Tigre'. Further, the abundance and population dynamics of the Turbellaria of 'El Tigre' are described.
