Abstract / Notes
Myoretronectes paranaensis, gen. et sp. n., from lotic sandy bottoms of the Parana river, Argentina, is described. The establishment of the new genus is based on the presence of a non-ciliated pharynx, a discrete oesophagus, and a strong muscle system surrounding the distal pharynx. A new emended diagnosis of the family Retronectidae is presented. Myoretronectes paranaensis apparently cohabits with the oligochaete Narapa bonettoi Righi and Varela, 1983 and the copepod Parastenocaris sp.
