Abstract / Notes
Descr. of 8 spp. of Polyclads, five Acotylea and three Cotylea, collected at East London. Planocera uncinata, Prosthiostomum delicatum and P. russoi. The other species, except Thysanozoon brocchii were all found previously in the South African seas. With this collection, Leptostylochus capensis, Stylochoplana tenuis, Notoplana patellarum, and Planocera gilchristi cover an area of distribution wider than that hitherto known. In both new species of Prosthiostomum some granular vesicles (accessory vesicles) were observed, wrapped in a common muscular band, as in Enchiridium. Notoplana ovalis Bock has to be named, for priority reasons, N. patellarum Stimpson: under that name Leptoplana patellensis Collgw. and Polycelis lyrosora Schmarda must be included.
