Abstract / Notes
"In 1908, Bohmig introduced the generic name Rimicola for a new species of marine flatworm, tentatively considered a member of the acoelan family Isodiametridae (e.g., see Atherton&Jondelius, 2021). Likely unknown to Bohmig (1908), the generic name Rimicola was preoccupied within Animalia by Rimicola Jordan&Evermann in Jordan, 1896, a valid genus of marine fishes of the family Gobiesocidae (Briggs, 1955; Conway et al., 2020). This renders Rimicola Bohmig, 1908 a junior homonym of Rimicola Jordan&Evermann in Jordan, 1896. Following Article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999) we herein provide a replacement name for Rimicola Bohmig, 1908."| Home page -- (Main hierarchy) |
