Abstract / Notes

A. yamadai sp. nov. and A. abutaensis sp. nov. were proposed and described. They were the 1st otoplanids in
the western Pacific. The 2 comprise a closely related species group whose common features are the
post-pharyngeal vitellaria, the andro-intestinal duct and the intestinal synctium. They differ in regard to
the structure of the stylet apparatus, the transverse septum in the intestinal canal and the gland complex in
front of the pharynx. The andro-intestinal duct was compared with the ductus problematicus [problematic duct]
of Paradoxoplana solida. The arrangement of the vitellofollicle separated the 2 spp. from Otoplanella and was
characteristic of Archotoplana.
