Abstract / Notes
Plagiostomum lobatum kurilense ssp. nov. is yellow-red, long (2 mm), with small ruby-colored eyes (1 pair) and a red-brown pigment spot in front of the eyes. The small pharynx variabilis is ciliated inside and outside. The anterior end is bifurcated, with 2 flat lateral lobes. Pharynx has an anterior sphincter. Penis is of the plagiostomide type and situated centrally, under the intestine. It occurs on seaweed from the littoral zone of Sakhalin and Kunashir Islands, Peter the Great Bay (Vostok and Posjet Coves). Vorticeros ijimai Tozawa, 1918, is yellowish, large (4 mm), with 2 long tentacles on the anterior body end. A transverse ciliated groove is anterior to the mouth. The small pharynx variabilis has many extrapharyngeal glands. The penis sac encloses a long filiform penis (cirrus). The penis sheath is not long, the genital atrium is large and the sperm nucleus, oval. It occurs on the southern coast of the Sakhalin Island, in Peter the Great Bay (Vostok and Posjet Coves).
