Stylochidae Distylochus Notes

Prudhoe (1989) pointed out problems with this genus and set it as a subgenus of Stylochus. Now, by virtue of the other subgenera of Stylochus (namely Imogine and Stylochus) having been elevated to rank of genus, this, too, is elevated back to that rank.

Notes for Stylochus Distylochus

The genus Distylochus erected by Faubel (1983) was regarded as a subgenus by Prudhoe (1989) (citation) in parallel with the other two subgenera of Stylochus (Imogine and Stylochus) because it "falls between those subgenera." But because those two subgenera have been regarded as untenable (synonymus with Stylochus), Distylochus has to be returned to genus status.
