Litvaitis, MK, Nunn G, Thomas WK, Kocher TD 1994 (citation)- Molecular approach to identification of turbellarians. Use of "nucleotide sequence of a portion of the large subunit of the ribosomal RNA (26/28S rRNA)". Species used in the analysis were: Pseudomonocelis ophiocephala, Pseudomonocelis cetinae, Monocelis lineata, Monocelis longiceps, Otoplanid (no described), Microstomum sp, Pseudostomum sp., Convoluta pulchra, Neochildia fusca, Paratomella rubra.
Joffe BI 1991 (citation)- comparison of "spatial distribution of catecholamine-containing (GA-positive) neurons in several species of turbellarians: Provortex karlingi, Microstomum sp., Actinoposthia beklemischevi, Aphanostoma virescens.
Steinbock O. 1948 (citation)- collected Iceland specimens at Laxa, at the mouth of Myvatn near Smiojutjorn; and at Geldingaey, east of the bridge. Also many specimens from Laugarvatn. This eyeless and sexually immature Microstomum speies exhibited no characteristic features, so it could neither be identified with one of the known species nor be described as a new species. Eyeless freshwater microstomides are M. canum Fuhrmann, M. caudatum (Leidy), and M. punctatum (Dorner) (cf v. Graff 1913 (citation), p 42, 43, 44.)
