Multipeniatidae Multipeniata Notes

Ax & Schmidt-Rhaesa 1992 (citation)- p. 171, "The observations about egg capsules of Multipeniata are a byproduct of ecological and geographical research on Plathelminthes from brackish waters of northern Japan. Although quantitative measurements aren't available, the very regular supply of young bivalves [Corbicula japonica] with capsules when brought with the sediment into Petri dishes must be emphasized as a striking phenomenon. Normally 1-3 capsules are fixed to one bivalve; at maximum 11 capsules were observed. The localisation of tghe capsules is of special interest. The are predominantly fixed in the hinge region of the shell. One capsule may contain up to 3 embryos."
