Riser NW 1981 (citation)- p 139, "This species has been encountered near ground water in the high intertidal from Nahant, Ma [Massachusetts, USA] to Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick [Canada]. It has occurred most frequently between the summer and winter berms, but at St. Andrews, N.B., where the high tide line extends up the cliff faces, the species is common at the base of the cliffs. Under these conditions, it may be found in the upper 5 cm of the substrate. It also is found throughout the region close to the surface above the high tide line where the sand/gravel substrate shallowly covers beds of clay. The species rarely moves in the twisted 'J' characteristic of the genus. Their sluggish behaviour and flaccid appearance is similar to that of certain species of the nemertinean genus Ototyphlonemertes. Epidermal glands are primarily of the granular vermiform type."
