Boaden PJS (1963) (citation)- p 86, "This remarkable turbellarian was known previously only from specimens from the Bay of Kiel which were described first by Ax (1958) in a paper commenting on the multiplication of the male copulatory apparatus in various Turbellaria. The number of stylets in specimens from North Wales varied between six and fifteen. In several cases the body was scarred, apparently due to loss of the most anterior stylet. The function of these stylets is unknown, probably they are used in copulation but may be used during the capture of food."
