Taxonomic characters for any taxa in the database can be entered via pages displaying matrices of taxa and characters. These matrices can be edited either by taxon (i.e., clicking on a taxon and editing all character states assigned to it) or by character (i.e., clicking on a character and registering its states for a list of taxa). Displays by taxon look like this:

taxon/character listing

Selecting a character from the scroll-down menu opens a page displaying characters already registered for the taxon and buttons for registering given character states for its contained taxa.

character-registering table

The CHARACTER listing link opens a page displaying all characters entered for a group and provides links for editing or deleting them and for editing their states.

For each character selected, character states can then be added, edited, or deleted.

The taxon-character matrix can also be edited by chosing a taxon by name and registering the various character states for all characters in the group to which it belongs:
