Notes from the literature and diagnoses of taxa are displayed as text fields from hyperlinks "diagnosis" and "notes":
Clicking on the "notes" link next to a taxonomic name would show text of notes about that taxon, such as mention of the taxon in the literature. Most of these notes were transcribed from an index-card file compiled by Dr. Louise Bush over many years before her death in 1991 (see also index cards), as in the following example, but newer notes are added on an ongoing basis.
Full literature citations for literature mentioned in the notes can be had by clicking on "(citation)" hyperlinks such as that next to "Bohmig L 1895" in the listing above:

Notes are also used for anecdotal records of taxa, such as this about the decline of a species at its type locality:
